Pankhurst Electrical Limited ("Pankhurst Electrical", "we", "us", "I") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, what we do with it, and what rights you have over it.

What information we collect
Information you give us
When you contact us through the website form, by phone, by text or by email, we may collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your suburb or property address
- Details about the job or enquiry
- How urgent the work is
When we carry out work for you, we may also collect:
- The full address of the property
- Details of the electrical work performed, including photographs taken before, during and after the job
- Information about your electrical installation recorded on Certificates of Compliance or Electrical Safety Certificates
- Billing details and payment records
- Any correspondence between us
If you are a landlord, property manager or business customer, we may also hold contact details for tenants or staff at the properties we attend, so that we can arrange access.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website, our hosting provider and any analytics tools we use may automatically record:
- Your IP address
- The type of browser and device you are using
- The pages you visited and how long you spent on them
- The website or search that referred you to us
This information is used to keep the website working properly and to understand how people find and use it. It is not used to identify you personally.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. You can opt out using Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Why we collect it
We collect personal information so that we can:
- Respond to your enquiry and provide a quote
- Arrange access to the property and schedule the work
- Carry out the electrical work you have asked for
- Issue Certificates of Compliance and other records required by law
- Invoice you and keep accurate financial records
- Contact you about the work, including follow-up and warranty matters
- Meet our legal obligations, including electrical safety and tax record-keeping requirements
- Respond to complaints or insurance claims relating to work we have carried out
We will not use your information for any purpose unrelated to the above without first asking you.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not use it to send marketing emails unless you have specifically asked to receive them.
Who we share it with
We only share your personal information where it is necessary. That may include:
- WorkSafe New Zealand / Energy Safety - where we are legally required to report or provide records relating to electrical work
- Our accountant and bookkeeping software - for invoicing, payment and tax purposes
- Suppliers and manufacturers - where a warranty claim or a specific part order requires it
- Our insurer - where a claim is made relating to work we have carried out
- Our website host and email provider - who store information on our behalf
- Other trades on the same job (builders, plumbers, kitchen installers) - where coordinating the work requires it, and only to the extent necessary
- Property managers or landlords - where they have engaged us to work at a property you occupy
- Debt collection agencies or legal advisors - only where an account remains unpaid
Some of these providers may store information on servers outside New Zealand. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that the information will be protected by comparable safeguards to those under the Privacy Act 2020.
We may also disclose information where we are required or authorised to do so by law.
How long we keep it
We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes described above.
- Enquiries that don't become jobs are only kept on our website server and can be deleted by request.
- Job records, certificates and invoices are kept for at least seven years, which is the period required for business and tax records, and consistent with our obligations to retain records of electrical work.
- Photographs of completed work may be kept as a record of the job and for warranty purposes.
Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. This includes password protection on our devices and accounts, and limiting access to information to those who need it.
No system is completely secure. While we take care to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted over the internet.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and to be given access to it
- Ask us to correct it if you believe it is wrong
- Ask us to delete it, where we are not legally required to keep it

There is normally no charge for making a request. If a request is particularly large or complex we may charge a reasonable fee, and we will tell you before any cost is incurred.
Complaints
If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please get in touch with us first — most issues can be sorted out quickly and directly.

Our website may contain links to other websites, including our Google Business Profile and Facebook page. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we recommend reading their privacy policies before providing them with your information.
Children
Our services are directed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we hold information about a child, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top. Significant changes will be made clear on the website.
